What to Expect
Deciding to have portraits done can be a daunting task, and a lot of people don't know what to expect on the day. Below is some information on what to expect, wear, and think about, before booking your session with me.
What should we wear?
Are you considering a photoshoot but don’t have a clue what you should wear?
If so, don’t panic! This is one of the most common questions!
The clothes you wear on the day of your family photoshoot should be a big consideration since they dramatically impact on the overall look and feel of the photos.
Start with a neutral base and build from there. Neutral tones are typically more flattering and cohesive than bright colours. Pick two or three neutrals to start with and then add little accents of colour if you want! Avoid tight fitting clothes that might highlight areas that you'd rather not have highlighted.
Location
Picking a location to have your portraits done can seem daunting at first. I would always suggest that if there's a park close to home, or somewhere you would walk together as a family, that's normally a good place to start.
If you don't normally venture out far, it can be a beach that you enjoy, or even your own back garden! This can be somewhere that means a lot to you, or it can be somewhere that you kick a football about! It's entirely up to you.
Personally, I love shooting in forests or woodland areas, and open parkland is often wonderful as well as the kids can run around and play!
On the day
Meeting strangers can be difficult, for adults as well as kids! I'll send out a family questionnaire ahead of the session to allow me to get to know you a little better. This means that on the day, we can chat and relax into it, and I'll have a better understanding of your family, and your children's interests.
This means that we'll have a fun and relaxing time, with lots of chat, some games, and a bit of chaos thrown in for good measure. My aim is to capture some of this natural family time, and to make sure that you take away good memories of the shoot for the future.
If you're uneasy about anything at all, please let me know ahead of time and I'll do all that I can to ease your mind.
